Governor Fernando vows to support PBBM’s aim to boost PH food supply

CITY OF MALOLOS — Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando is vows to support President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. aim in boosting the country’s food supply towards sustainable security.

Fernando and the Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO) led the first flight of the agricultural drone bought by the Provincial Government of Bulacan at Brgy. Pinac-pinacan, San Rafael, Bulacan last Tuesday (Aug. 9).

This is in consonance with Gov. Fernando’s goal to transform Bulacan’s state of agriculture from conventional to modern.

Prior the conduct of actual seed spreading using the drone, staff of PAO gave an orientation to Fernando, San Rafael Mayor Cholo Violago, Board Member Romeo Castro, Jr., Barangay Captain Alberto Bautista and some farmers about its benefits and use.

According to PAO Chief Ma. Gloria Carrillo, the said multi-tasking drone is effective, modern, efficient and will make planting of seeds and spraying of rice fertilizer or pesticides easier.

She said that it’s safer to use because it will prevent injury caused by snails and other debris in the farm since it’s the drone that will equally distribute the seeds.

“Malaki ang maitutulong ng mga makabagong kagamitan na ito sa mga magsasaka upang makatuwang sila ng pamahalaan sa pagseseguro ng suplay ng pagkain ng bansa. Sisikapin natin dito sa Bulacan na patuloy na makasabay sa takbo ng modernong panahon na makatutulong sa pagtataas ng kakayahan, ani at kita ng ating mga magsasaka,” Fernando said.

Meanwhile, aside from monitoring the movement of the drone seed spreader, Fernando also tried to drive the mechanical seed transplanter with Violago and Castro to plant rice.

“Tunay nga po na isang malaking oportunidad ang hatid ng mga makabagong kagamitan na ito. At makaaasa po ang ating pamahalaang nasyunal sa pangunguna ni PBBM na laging nakasuporta at makikiisa ang Bulacan sa mga programa ng Kagawaran ng Agrikultura,” governor added.
